BRONZE

Ken McWilliams and Jerri live in Iowa, USA . He was 44 when he was diagnosed on February 20, 2008. His initial PSA was 6.2 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 3+3 and he was staged T1c. His choice of treatment was Da Vinci Surgery. Here is his story.

Well it has been four weeks since my surgery and everything seems good so far. The only problem so far is urinating I am leaking a little - about two pads per day. I hope this will get better.

But the good news is I am able to get a full erection and have sex with no problems. This is what I worried about the most.

When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer I kinda freaked out and was mean to wife and kids. I know this was wrong but this was hard for me to accept. My wife was great to me stayed by side even though I was being a jerk. My wife and kids have forgiven me now.

I had surgery april 22, 2008 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. My Surgeon was Dr. Frank and he did great job. I would recommend going to the Mayo Clinic for the Da Vinci robotic Surgery.

I was prescribed to take 5mg tablet of Cialis daily for the next twelve weeks. This is very expensive treatment that is not covered by my insurance. I have to pay for this treatment out of my own pocket.

Well I could go on all day about my prostate cancer but I gotta go. If anyone would like contact me feel free.

It has been 52 days since I had my surgery. And truly feel I have made full recovery I feel 100% normal. I am not incontinent any longer I was using about 2 pads per day and I just seemed to stop leaking last week. I am still having sex with no E.D. problems. I have just one more hurdle to jump and that is on July 28 For my 3 month check. I will be checking back in then to give my update. Hopefully it will be good news. I do have a question.

Is my recovery unusual? It seems from everything I have read on the Internet that I may be very lucky. Just wondering what you all think. The only thing I did when I found out I prostate cancer was I prayed everyday. Not for miracle I just wanted a normal life. And it seems that prayers have been answered.

This been life changing experience for me and very long 8 months. I feel very lucky like I won the lottery. I have made a full 100% recovery. I am happy that I went the surgery I have no side effects from this surgery no incontinence and no E.D. problems again I am very lucky.
